Just dropped a huge amount of money on one of these Palm/Phone combos. So far so good, but a some room for improvement:
- The operation is "modal" - you're either in "phone" mode, which you control with the phone keypad and a physical Up/Down/OK button, or you're in "Palm" mode, which you control with the standard stylus and touchscreen. But the two modes are integrated at some points, so often I have to switch back and forth between Up/Down/OK button and stylus. Very confusing! The phone has to spank me a lot...my training is coming along slowly.
- I was very excited about Voice Dial, but the interface seems crappy. As far as I can tell, you still have to push the Phone Dial button on the keypad before you can start giving voice commands (maybe there's a way around this?). Hrmph.
- Very poor integration between different address book functionality. There's the standard Palm address book, the Voice Dial list, and the Speed Dial list. Lots of strange variations in the interface, which I won't go into here. Suffice it to say: not a pleasant experience.
- Damn, it's hard to pry the stylus out of its little hole!
I know, bitch bitch bitch. I'm still optimisic about the little thing, despite the rough edges. We're not "there yet," but I got tired of waiting.
